The Mechanical Automatic Watch

When worn, automatic watches harness the kinetic energy contained within the natural movement of your arm to generate the power required to function. Power generated via automatic winding or supplemental manual winding is stored in the movement’s mainspring and ensures a constant source of energy. This allows for continual operation when worn, and a period of operation when unworn. This timepiece does not require electrochemical power sources, does not require daily setting, and is an exquisite definition of efficiency.

Time-Only Watches

  1. Pull the crown out one click then rotate the crown until the current time is displayed.
  2. Push the crown in one click then rotate the crown clock-wise 10-20 times to manually wind the mainspring.

Time and Date Watches

  1. Pull the crown out two clicks then rotate the crown until the current time is displayed.
  2. Push the crown in one click then rotate the crown until the current date is displayed.
  3. Push the crown in one click then rotate the crown clock-wise 10-20 times to manually wind the mainspring.

Note: additional sub dial calendars may be set via buttons found on the side of the watch case.

Crown Protectors / Screw-down Crowns

If equipped with a crown protector, it must be relocated before the crown can be used. If equipped with a screw-down crown as well, the crown must be screwed down completely before attempting to secure the crown protector.

Screw-Down Crowns

If equipped with a screw-down crown, it must be unscrewed before it can be used. To use the crown, rotate it counterclockwise until it is free from the case threads. To secure the crown, gently push inwards on the crown while rotating clockwise. Screw the crown down until it is secure to the case. (finger-tighten only)

Additional Usage Notes

  • The mainspring in your watch cannot be over-wound like traditional manual wind movements.
  • Recessed buttons found on the side of the case can be manipulated with a small pointed object, such as a thumb tack.
  • If calendars are changing in the afternoon, rather than at midnight, advance the time 12 hours.
  • If equipped with a rotating bezel, rotate it periodically to prevent debris build-up and potential seizing.
  • To prevent incidental loss, periodically check the tightness of any equipped strap, bracelet, and crown protector screws.
  • Do not attempt to remove any screws mounted to the case or bezel, some are for decorative purposes only.
  • Mechanical movements are sensitive to shock, do not wear your watch while playing sports or in to harsh environments.
  • Do not wear your watch too tight, as it may bend or strain the winding stem, and may damage spring bars.
  • Manually winding the mainspring briefly before wearing the watch, and periodically throughout the day increases the power reserve and helps wear the mainspring more evenly.

Water Resistance Guidelines

Note: water resistance ratings are provided as a general guideline of usage, and offer no guarantee of maximum water resistance. Manipulation of the crown and / or buttons (if equipped), while the watch is in contact with water will negate the water resistance rating as water penetration may occur.

3 ATM - Splash resistant only. Use care while hand washing, do not submerge. Not suitable for bathing, swimming, or for use in wet environments.

5 ATM - May be submerged for short durations, in normal temperature fresh water only. Not suitable for bathing, swimming, watersports, or diving.

10 ATM - Suitable for normal bathing and low duration / depth swimming, in normal temperature fresh water only. Not suitable for watersports, diving, extended periods of swimming. Not recommended for use in harsh environments.

20 ATM - Feature Dependent

  • Screw down crown with non-screw down / locking buttons (if equipped): suitable for bathing, swimming, and light watersports, in normal temperature fresh water only.
  • Screw down crown with screw down / locking buttons (if equipped): suitable for all forms of water contact within indicated depth marking. Not recommended for use in extreme conditions or salt water.
  • Screw down crown with no buttons present: suitable for all forms of water contact within indicated depth marking. Not suitable for deep sea diving.
